Joomla 2.5 is out!

Joomla 2.5 is available since yesterday.
That's a good news!

The other good news is that the template system of 2.5 is nearly the same than the Joomla 1.6/1.7 system. It comes with some new features and options, but it is backwards compatible with Joomla templates made for 1.6 or 1.7.

I test all templates made for 1.6/1.7 with Joomla! 2.5 RC1 and till yesterday I do a quick test for all with the final Joomla 2.5 without problems.

But because Joomla 2.5 is just 24hrs old it might by that there are smaller issues I don´t detected till now.
If you have any problems using my templates with the latest final release of Joomla 2.5 let me know!

Coming soon: "BlackSite" for Joomla 1.7 & 2.5

"BlackSite" is the title of my next template which will be released at the end of this week or at the beginning of the next week. It is made for a fictional architecture/construction company. See some early screenshots below.

"GreatInc" version 1.0.1 released

Version 1.0.1 of "GreatInc" is now available.
** Fixing problems with slider pagination **

You can download the new version here.
Reason for the problem was a wrong image path in the templates CSS file.

If you don´t want to re-install the whole template... can do the following:
Open the templates "custom.css" stylesheet file. You can open it from your template manager inside your Joomla backend or you can download it via FTP to your local computer and edit it with a text or HTML editor (the location of the file in your Joomla root directory is: /templates/greatinc/css/custom.css).
Add this AT THE END of the file:

.pagination li a { background-image:url(../images/unused.png);}
.pagination li.current a {background-image:url(../images/used.png);}

Today I released my new Joomla 1.6/1.7+ template called "GreatInc". I designed it for a fictional multimedia agency. You can see a demo site for GreatInc here, read more about it here, and if you are already a logged in member you can download it right here.

Template preview: "GreatInc"

The working title (and maybe the final one) for my next template is "GreatInc", made for a imaginary media agency. I will release it in the first week of 2012.

How you embed a YouTube or Vimeo video into a Joomla article or module

You can embed third party content (like YouTube or Vimeo videos, Google maps, Flickr images etc.) right into a Joomla module or article without any extra plugin, module or other extension.

BUT there are two major problems doing it::
1. The default editor removes some HTML tags like OBJECT or iFRAME
2. Even if the Super Admin adds content it will be checked against a blacklist and HTML tags which can caused security problems will be removed automatically, too.

If you try to copy&past some code Joomla will remove it automatically as soon as you save your changes.

The solution:
Turn off the default editor
1. Click on "Site -> My Profil" in your Joomla backend
2. Select "Editor - None" as Editor
3. Save the changes

Disable the text filtering for your Super Admin
1. Click on "Content -> Article Manager" in your Joomla backend
2. Hit the "Options" icon in the upper right corner
3. Select the "Text Filters" tab in the options popup window
4. Select as "Filter Type" for you as Super User "No Filtering"
5. Save the changes

Now you can grap the "embed" code from YouTube, flickr, Vimeo etc. and past it right into an article or custom module.
